The School of Government is committed to monitoring and evaluating the impact of our work on our clients and the broader state of North Carolina. As one component of these efforts, School staff created and launched an annual audience survey in 2019. This website includes quotations from that survey and data points from fiscal year 2021, which are indicated as “2021-22” in running text.
The estimated audience for the survey after removing duplicate and invalid emails was 16,552. The initial email open rate was 27.7% (4,585), and the click rate was 18.9% (3,129). According to Qualtrics, we received 2,463 responses; the highest response rate for any one question was 2,115.
Survey respondents were presented several statements about different School of Government services and asked whether they agreed or disagreed with each statement. The percentages presented on this page are the number of respondents who agreed with each statement. Respondents were also asked the following open-ended question: “If the School of Government has helped your work as a public official or employee, we'd like to know how. Please provide a specific example, if applicable.”
This survey will be distributed to all audiences once every five years; all other years, the survey will be sent to a random sample of audiences.
